Birth and Beyond is a homebirth midwifery service. We provide
care throughout Southeastern Arizona, including the Tucson area. We offer woman centered care from pre-conception through
well baby care. Services include natural family planning, childbirth classes, prenatal care, labor and delivery at
home, water birth, post-partum care, and newborn care. Our goal is to provide a positive experience for the whole
family in a home setting. Primary midwife is Billye Matthews, LM, BS, MT(ASCP), an Arizona licensed midwife, who is a
homebirth mother of 3. Billye works closely with other area midwives to ensure that each birthing mother will have the
best care possible. Billye has extensive experience in natural healing methods, including herbal medicine. She believes
that pregnancy and childbirth is a normal part of a woman's life.
The Midwives Model of Care is based on the fact that pregnancy and birth are normal life events. The Midwives Model of Care includes:

monitoring the physical, psychological and social well-being of the mother throughout the childbearing
cycle

providing the mother with individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care, continuous hands-on
assistance during labor and delivery, and postpartum support

minimizing technological interventions and;
-
identifying and referring women who require obstetrical attention
The application of this model has been proven to reduce to incidence of birth injury, trauma, and
cesarean section.
